A wise frog once said "It's not easy being green." Well, it's not easy eating green either.

Maintaining a healthy, vegetarian diet can be difficult when seemingly every restaurant is all about burgers, steak and chicken. It's almost the equivalent of wanting to see a popular movie without funding the major corporations that force an audience to watch commercials and pay $7 for popcorn.

Wouldn't it be great if there was somewhere, anywhere, you could go that your moviegoing dollar would go back into the community and you could grab a quick, healthy, vegetarian bite to eat?

One street in the Hudson Valley offers that unique experience. The Rosendale Theater, family-owned and run for decades, is showing the king of the green, "Shrek the Third," footsteps away from the Rosendale Cafe, the premier vegetarian cafe in the Hudson Valley.

Call it the Main Street green-ogre-and-mixed-green combo.

In "Shrek the Third," everyone's favorite ogre (Mike Myers) and his wife, Fiona (Cameron Diaz), find themselves in quite a predicament. The king has passed away, and Shrek is the rightful heir to the throne. In defiance of this fact, Shrek goes to find the next person in line, a young boy named Artie (Justin Timberlake). While Shrek's away, Prince Charming (Rupert Everett) seizes the opportunity to try to take the kingdom over for himself.

Compared to "Shrek 2," this latest installment is a step backward in every category. It's less funny, less clever and less epic. But it's still a "Shrek" film, and because of that, it entertains no matter what.

Of course, "Shrek" is playing at a ton of theaters in the area, and any one of them will certainly provide the same ogre-ish experience. But if you'd like to keep it green, definitely make the trip to Main Street, Rosendale.
