Stewart Airport - Sen. Charles Schumer yesterday urged the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to give local residents and citizensí groups a greater voice in the future of Stewart International Airport.
In a letter to Anthony Shorris, executive director of the Port Authority, Schumer urged the agency to form a citizens advisory committee. The Port Authority is expected to take over the airportís operation later this year.
Schumer said while there have been other advisory boards formed in the past related to Stewart, a citizensí advisory committee is essential to ensure that residents who live near the airport will be informed about its growth and have a chance to give their input to those running the airport.
