Frederick T. Baker, a lifelong resident of the area, died Friday, May 25, 2007 at home. He was 89.

The son of the late Fred P. and Vera Williams Baker, he was born September 13, 1917 in Newburgh, N.Y.

A retired Manager for A&P in Haverstraw, N.Y., Mr. Baker was a member of the Moulton Memorial Baptist Church in Newburgh; an over 50-year member and past Commander of the American Legion Post #1420 in Newburgh, and a 42-year member of Masons, Hudson River Lodge #309, F. & A.M. He was a World War II, U.S. Air Force veteran serving in the Pacific.

A family statement reads: "He prided himself on bringing joy to the children at Pleasant Acres Nursery in New Windsor, by playing Santa Claus there for many years."

He was the widower of Minnie ODell Baker. He was further predeceased by his daughter, Nancy Dubois, and his brother, Innis Williams.

Survivors include his granddaughter, Pam Dubois of Newburgh, N.Y.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 N. Plank Rd., Newburgh, N.Y.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 30 at 10 a.m. at the Moulton Memorial Baptist Church, 54 Old Little Britain Rd., Newburgh, N.Y., with Pastor Jack Hyatt officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor, N.Y.
