Fred Joseph Fragomeli, Jr., age 75, of Caberfae Highway, Manistee, Mich., died Friday, May 25, 2007 at his home unexpectedly.

He was born March 2, 1932 in Middletown, N.Y. to the late Fred and Isabella (Critelli) Fragomeli.

He was a graduate of Middletown High School with the class of 1950. He then attended Syracuse University where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Pulp and Paper Chemical Engineering in 1955. Fred married Patricia Easman at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Middletown, N.Y. on June 13, 1954.

He served in the United States Army from February 7, 1956 until November 6, 1957. His career in the paper industry took him to Texas, Virginia, Massachusetts, and Wisconsin and in 1981 when he moved to Manistee as Vice President and General Manager of the Packaging Corporation, where he retired from in 1994. He was a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #250 of Manistee, the Manistee Golf and Country Club and a communicant of Guardian Angels Catholic Church of Manistee.

During his career in Manistee, Fred had been very active in many civic and community activities, boards, organizations and fund raising events. He enjoyed traveling, playing golf, reading, music, and playing the piano as some of his favorite past times.

Fred is survived by his wife, Patricia Fragomeli of Manistee; his son, Larry Fragmeli of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter, Lisa Fragomeli of Manistee, Mich.; son and daughter-in-law, Lance and Barbara Fragomeli of Avon Lake, Ohio; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Tom Daniels of St. Louis, Mo.; son, Lane Fragomeli of New York, N.Y.; his four grandchildren, Aaron and Logan Harmon and Luke and Matthew Fragomeli; his sister, Cecelia Gobeo of Middletown, N.Y. and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive him.

Fred was also preceded in death by his daughters, Lauren Beth and Lynn Patricia Fragomeli and by two sisters, Virginia Moore and Frances Borella.

Mass from The Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Manistee with the Rev. James Bearss celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery also in Manistee.

Evening Prayer from The Order of Christian Funerals will be prayed Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee, where friends may begin calling Wednesday afternoon after 2 p.m. The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. to receive friends.
