John Gerald Silvagni, a lifelong resident of Newburgh, entered into rest on Sunday, May 27, 2007 in his home, surrounded by his family. He was 57.

Son of John Silvagni and the late Sylvia Macri Silvagni, he was born March 6, 1950 in Newburgh. He was married to Lynne Silvagni, who survives at home.

A family statements reads: "John was a loving and devoted husband, father and friend to all. His constant humor always left a smile on everyone's face. He will be greatly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him."

John was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and proudly served in the Army National Guard. He was a retired manager at IBM, East Fishkill and a retired employee of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District.

In addition to his loving wife, Lynne, he is survived by his daughters, Kristin Silvagni of New Windsor and Jennifer Bannan and her husband, Matthew of Suffern; his father, John Silvagni of Newburgh; sisters, Linda Way of Milton and Sharon Travis of Highland; sister-in-law, Susan Pizzo; brother-in-law, Edward Lauffer and his wife, Joya; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and a great-nephew.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30 at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.
