Formerly of Newburgh, N.Y.

Daniel J. Bresnan, 69, a retired teacher of European history at Newburgh Free Academy, died on May 27, 2007 at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Newburgh. He maintained homes on Yankee Lake and in Jensen Beach, Fla.

Dan spent much of his life enjoying all that he could. Friends will recall stories of his frequent travels, spanning from childhood trips to Europe with his mother, to more recent travels to the Caribbean and Mexico. Reminiscence would be followed by grand plans for the next adventure, planned from a dog-eared travel book, marked with an ever-present pencil kept conveniently tucked under his watch.

Dan also had a great fondness for food. Not just any food and not always in great quantity, but very specific meals: lamb with peas, Flounder Oreganata and, especially, duck from Guss.

Of the many things that Dan enjoyed, none compared to spending time with his family and friends at his beloved home on Yankee Lake. Those who gathered for the many dinners there, will not soon forget them.

Dan is survived by cousins, many friends, and his cat, Ginger. he was predeceased by his father, Daniel J. Bresnan, and by his mother, Rita Bresnan-Forrestal.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, Bide-A-Wee or a local Humane Society.

A Memorial service celebrating Dans life will be held at his home on Yankee Lake on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at — p.m.
