Kiryas Joel -Investigators from the Orange County District Attorney’s Office led an early Tuesday morning raid into Kiryas Joel to arrest six people suspected of stealing or defrauding the village housing authority of at least $59,000.
Investigators, accompanied by state troopers, FBI agents and inspectors from the U.S. Postal Service and U.S. Housing and Urban Development, arrested two couples and are waiting to arrest two other people, officials from the prosecutor’s office said.
Moshe and Rachel Huss, both 30 years old and residents of Mordche Scher Boulevard; and Michael Herman, 33, and his wife Reizel, 40, of Kalev Way, were charged with third-degree grand larceny, a felony.
According to arrest warrants, the Husses allegedly stole $40,000 from the housing authority, and the Hermans allegedly stole $19,000.
They were released, pending future court appearances. No other details concerning the charges were available.
