Goshen -Five-time felon Phenix Lewis pleaded guilty Thursday in Orange County Court to burgling nine homes in the City of Newburgh in a five-week span this winter.
Lewis, 47, of Newburgh, was arrested after city police recovered a fingerprint at one of the crime scenes and matched it with Lewis’ prints.
Some of his victims were home at the time of the crimes.
If he’s sentenced as a persistent felon on Aug. 27, Lewis faces at least 16 years to life in state prison. He’s already done time for bail-jumping, burglary, attempted burglary, robbery and absconding from work-release, according to state corrections records.
