August will mark the 30th anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley.

Elvis Week, an annual August event in Memphis, Tenn., organized by Elvis Presley Enterprises, will include an Elvis tribute artist contest for the first time. Winners will be chosen during the eight-day festival (Aug. 11-19), which will also include an "Elvis: Midnight in Vegas" concert, a Graceland Scavenger Hunt and an Elvis Presley International Art Show.

Other highlights will include the Elvis Expo — 35,000 square feet of convention space in Memphis devoted to Elvis memorabilia — and the yearly Candlelight Vigil, the night before the anniversary of Elvis' death, Aug. 16.

Royal Caribbean International, with Mahwey Productions, is organizing Elvis tribute cruises to Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean. Each cruise has at least two Elvis tribute singers on board. One even has a father-and-son Elvis team. Information: www.mahwey.com

Call it Hybrid Hertz now that the rental car company has agreed to add 3,400 Toyota Prius vehicles by 2008 to its Green Collection, which features fuel-efficient, low-emissions cars like the Subaru Outback, the Ford Fusion and the Buick LaCrosse.

Frank Camacho, vice president for marketing at Hertz, says that 50 percent to 60 percent of people who rent cars travel alone, primarily for business, and could easily forgo a larger less fuel-efficient vehicle for one that is more environmentally friendly.

Competitively priced, the hybrids will be available at a starting rate of $50 a day on weekends (compared with about $60 for a Mercury Grand Marquis). Hertz is also promising to donate $1 of every Hertz Green Collection rental to the National Park Foundation — up to $1 million.
