Edward G. McKune of Liberty, a retired meat cutter for the Victory Market in Liberty, N.Y., and lifelong area resident, died Sunday, July 29, 2007 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 70.

The son of Edith Davenport McKune and the late Peter McKune, he was born May 16, 1937 in Horton, N.Y.

Edward served our country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1961; he was a member of the Russell Sprague American Legion Post #109, Liberty; member of the Clarence Hoyt V.F.W. Post #9217, Liberty, and a member of the Liberty Elks Lodge #1545. He had also been employed by the Liberty Central School for a few years before retiring.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Linda A. Beiling McKune, at home; his mother, Edith Davenport McKune Cannon of Liberty; one son, Daniel E. McKune of Liberty; two daughters, Kathleen Miller and her husband, Richard of Ballston Spa, N.Y., and Kim Marie Stahl and her husband, Michael of Livingston Manor; three brothers: Peter McKune and his wife, Pearl of Cambridge, N.Y., Richard McKune and his wife, Sharon of White Sulphur Springs, and John Ostrander and his wife, Dawn of Liberty; three sisters: Mary Lou Murray of Portland, Ore., Linda Kendal of Ellenville, and Barbara Ostrander of Cuddebackville; five grandchildren: Megan Eisenberg of Liberty, Mikaela Stahl of Livingston Manor, Franklin, Travis and Richard Miller, all of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; several cousins, nieces and nephews, and his constant companion, Nikki. He was predeceased by a son, Timothy G. McKune; brother, Allen McKune, and sister, Anna Marie McKune.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 1, from 11 a.m. to — p.m. in the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty, N.Y.

Funeral services will follow at — p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, in the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert McIntosh officiating. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery, Cold Spring Rd., Liberty, N.Y.
