GOSHEN — Anthony B. Campbell of Kiamesha Lake thought he had a plan to get custody of his daughter. Instead, he wound up in state prison today.
Orange County Court Judge Nicholas DeRosa sentenced Campbell to three and a half years for planting a loaded gun in his estranged wife’s car on June 1. Campbell then called in a bogus complaint to Middletown police, telling them that his wife drew down on him in a parking lot.
Police quickly picked apart Campbell’s story and arrested him. The gun was part of a scheme to sabotage his wife’s case in their child-custody dispute.
Campbell, 44, pleaded guilty Dec. 13 to second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony. He’s been fired from his job as a youth aide at the Goshen Residential Center, a home for kids in trouble with the law.
