The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch from 2 p.m. through late Wednesday night for Orange County, parts of southeast New York and northeast New Jersey.

Showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight could produce very heavy rainfall over already saturated grounds in a short period of time. Rainfall rates of over 2 inches an hour... and total rainfall of 2 to locally 4 inches are possible in and near the watch area.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
