POUGHKEEPSIE — CH Energy Group lost $1.5 million, or 9 cents per share, during the second quarter, as earnings were hurt by declining sales and an increase in uncollectable accounts.

Central Hudson Gas & Electric, the company’s regulated subsidiary that delivers gas and electricity to much of the mid-Hudson, will file an application Friday to increase its delivery rates for gas and electricity customers.

“We had anticipated these results, given the inadequate revenues provided by the rate plan that expired on June 30, 2009,” said Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Steven Lant in a prepared statement.

The utility is currently operating on a one-year rate plan.
