ELLENVILLE — Investigators from the URGENT narcotics team arrested the owner of the Center Street Deli on Thursday morning, accusing him of selling morphine and prescription drugs that he stored at the deli.
A search turned up diverted prescription drugs, morphine, syringes, a scale and drug packaging materials. Store employees were questioned and released, and the village code enforcement officer closed the business for electrical code violations.
Luis Jorge, 50, of Wawarsing, was charged with the possession and sale of drugs, felonies, and sent to Ulster County Jail without bail.
URGENT, the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team, is made up of members of county and local law enforcement agencies as well as immigration and customs officials.
