Lowell R. Stanton, a lifetime area resident, died on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was the son of the late Roy and Ruth Crumley Stanton and was born on January 10, 1945 in Monticello, NY.

Lowell was a loving, hard-working family man who loved hunting, fishing and trapping. He was a heavy equipment operator, having retired from the Town of Bethel after 30-years of service.

He was an Army Veteran, serving his country from 1965 to 1967. He was a member of the Mongaup Game Preserve, the N.Y.S. Trappers Assn., the National Rifle Assn. and the National Wild Turkey Federation.

Survivors include his wife of 40-years, Eunice Dailey Stanton at home; his daughter, Tammy LaPolt and her fianc , Keith LaPolt of Smallwood; his three sons: Scott Stanton of Mongaup Valley, Jason Stanton and his wife, Lorie of Ferndale, NY and Joey Dailey and his wife, Laura of New Windsor; two granddaughters, Paige and Ashley LaPolt; his sisters: Marion Vassmer of Kauneonga Lake, Yvonne Cunningham of Swan Lake, and Barbara Weiss and her husband, Norm of Mongaup Valley; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Joan Dailey and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; one special cousin, Jean Scott.

Friends may call at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 3534 State RT 55, Kauneonga Lake, today Friday, July 31, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 1, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with The Rev. Randolph Yerkes officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Union Cemetery, Mongaup Valley, NY.
