SWAN LAKE - State police say a Swan Lake adult home resident found dead Sunday morning shows no signs of foul play.

Thomas Scanlan, 59, who lived at the New Swan Lake Adult Home, was discovered in a storage area of the Swan Lake Country Store about a quarter mile from the adult home on Route 55, State Police Senior Investigator Mike Orrego said.

Scanlan was found by one of the home’s staff members around 12:45 a.m. after going missing most of the day, Orrego said. Scanlan had lived at the 27-bed home for some time.

Orrego said the cause of death is unclear.

“There were no obvious signs of foul play,” Orrego said. “It is all pending an autopsy.”

The autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday night at Catskill Regional Medical Center; however, the weather could cause a delay.

The adult home hasn’t had significant problems in recent months, Orrego said.
