Our #1 ally, most precious gift, gracious & beloved mom, Edith M. Blume, passed away at her home in Tampa, FL on Sunday, October 17, 2010 with her family by her side. She was 85.
The daughter of the late James and Edna Edwards Benton she was born on April 22, 1925 in White Sulphur Springs, NY.
She was a life long resident of White Sulphur Springs and worked in the beautiful resort area for 50 years. She was blessed to spend later years with her family in NY and in Tampa, FL. She was a member of the White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church and Clarence Hoyt Post 9217 of the VFW.
The family extends deep appreciation to neighbors Lee & Brenda Grant and numerous life long residents of White Sulphur Springs for their friendship.
Survivors include sons, John D. Blume of Liberty, NY, Kevin L. Blume of White Sulphur Springs, NY and daughter, Patricia L. Blume Smith of Tampa, FL; adoring sisters, Maude Schoonmaker of Kirkwood, NY, Gladys Carlisle of Coconut Creek, FL and sister in law, Marion Benton of Knoxville, TN; daughters in law, Theresa Blume, Sheryl Blume and son in law, Robert M. Smith; grandchildren, Kami Crary, John & Joleen Blume, Joseph Blume, Jasen & Cristie Blume, Jamie Blume, Allison & Mike Andrews, Kevin Blume, Derek Blume, Lauren Blume, Robert & Ester Barber, Neil Barber and Keith Barber; 18 great grandchildren and fond cousins, neices & nephews.
Her husband, John H. Blume, grandchildren, Michelle Blume and Ryan T. Blume, brother, Chester Benton and sister, Lillian Gerow, predeceased her.
So brave, So strong...we thank you for your values, morals, compassion & empathy. You said, "You're the best daughter." I said, "You're the best person I've ever known!" You said, "I gave you everything I could." We said, "You gave us everything you had!" Thank you for being our mom, Love, John, Kevin & Patty. Rest peacefully.
