The Rosendale Theatre is getting some help for its renovation.

A $175,000 grant administered by the New York State Dormitory Authority and awarded through the offices of state Assemblyman Kevin Cahill will be given to the Rosendale Theatre Collective. The grant is to help stabilize and renovate the theater, which was purchased by the Collective in 2010.

“The Rosendale Theatre holds a special place in the hearts of many of us in this community,” Cahill said. “The hard work and tenacity of members of the RTC made our efforts to secure this grant all the more possible. The economic impact of this anchor property to the village and the surrounding communities cannot be overstated. Art is good business.”

The grant will be formally awarded Friday at the reading of "He Isn't Me," a screenplay by Philip Dorling and Ron Nyswaner. The event is at 8 p.m. Friday at the theater.
