Carl Eric "Swede" Lundgren, a lifelong resident of Upper Nyack, passed away peacefully at his home on February 25, 2011. He was 77. A devoted husband and father, Eric was born September 27, 1933 to Carl and Elina Lundgren of Upper Nyack.

Eric graduated from Nyack High School in 1951, and was a proud veteran of the U.S Navy having served from 19511956 aboard the U.S.S Warrington. He was employed by the telephone company for 42 years, retiring from Verizon in 1998. Eric was a life member of Empire Hook and Ladder Co. #1 in Upper Nyack, and was awarded Fireman of the Year in 1964 by the Rockland County Volunteer Firemen's Association. He was a member of the American Legion Post #310 Nyack, and The National Association of Destroyer Veterans, aka "Tin Can Sailors."

On September 21, 1968, Eric married his beloved wife, Catherine Kane, of Nyack who predeceased him in 2007 after 39 years of marriage. Eric leaves behind his children: Christine of Upper Nyack, Rusty & Amanda of Monroe, Kathleen Pennings & Kevin of Cornwall, and Eric & Jasmin of Cornwall.

Visitation will be held today, Monday, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., where Empire H & L Co. #1 will hold a Firematic Service at 7:30 p.m. at Hanneman Funeral Home, Inc., 88 S. Broadway, Nyack; 845-358-0573.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 1, at 10 a.m., at St. Ann's R.C. Church in Nyack. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Nyack.
