Mr. Iwan Nazarkewycz of Glen Spey, NY died Sunday, September 11, 2016 at home. He was 94.

He was born March 29, 1922 in Derniv, Ukraine the son of the late Hryhoryj Nazarkewycz and the late Anna Vantuch Nazarkewycz.

Iwan was the Real Estate Business Owner of NBKN Realty Management Corp. in New York, NY.

He was a member of St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Church, New York, NY and St. Volodymyr's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Glen Spey, NY.

He was a member of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) and a member of the UACF from which he received an award of distinction.

A family statement read: A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. A man who fought for his native Ukraine and rose from humble beginnings to build a thriving business in America. He was a founding member and helped build with his own hands St. Volodymyr's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Glen Spey. He committed his life to supporting his family and helping the causes he cared about. He leaves us a legacy of courage and love which makes us all so very proud.

Surviving are wife, Iryna Nazarkewycz at home; daughters: Sonya Blanarovich and her husband, Yuri, of Montville, NJ, Olia Kuziw and her husband, Svyatoslav, of Towaco, NJ, Stefka Nazarkewycz and her husband, Ron Tremba of New York, NY; step- daughter: Oksana Bendyuha and her husband, Oleh, of Ukraine; five grandchildren: Adrian Blanarovich of Chicago, IL, Orest Blanarovich and his wife, Christina of Montville, NJ, Lesia Kuziw-Tatunchak and her husband, Boris of Princeton, NJ, Natalia Kuziw of New York, NY, Julia Ana Tremba of New York, NY; step-grandson, Myroslav Bendyuha of Ukraine; two great-grandchildren: Zenon Blanarovich and Maksim Blanarovich.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Anna Nazarkewycz; two siblings: Stefan and Genia Nazarkewycz; and grandson, Ivan S. Kuziw.

Friends may call at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Inc., 100 East Main Street, Port Jervis on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 from 4 to 9 p.m. with a Panachyda service at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

A liturgy mass will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 10 a.m. in St. Volodymyr's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 447 High Road, Glen Spey, NY 12737 with Rev. Yaroslav Kostyk officiating. Burial will be at Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Hamptonburgh, NY.
