Mary (Moretti) Byron, age 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Byron was born on June 11, 1922 in Herkimer, NY, a daughter of Umberto Moretti and Theresa (Servadio) Moretti. She was educated in Herkimer High School. She was married to Robert Kellogg Byron, a World War II Veteran, on November 8, 1952, who predeceased her on August 7, 1964.
Mary was last employed at Mohawk Data Sciences in Herkimer. She was previously employed at Sperry Rand-UNIVAC.
Mary was an avid reader and was inspired by her great faith in God. She found tremendous joy sharing the accomplishments and life milestones of her grandchildren, daughter and family. She has been residing with her daughter and grandchildren in Liberty for the past sixteen years. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her loving family; her beloved daughter, Roberta Byron-Lockwood and son-in-law, Herb Clark; three cherished grandchildren: Matthew Byron Lockwood of Warwick, Kelley Marie Lockwood of Liberty and Christopher Louis Lockwood of Liberty; many nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins and sisters-in-law, Teresa Moretti and Fannie Moretti. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Byron was predeceased by her sister, Nancy Fortuna, and her brothers: Louis, John, Patsy, Michael and Fiory Moretti.
Mrs. Byron's funeral services will commence at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, September 19th with a prayer service at the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, with procession to St. Joseph & Anthony's Church, where her Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband. Relatives and friends may call between 2 and 5 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N Washington St., Herkimer, NY.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the administration, doctors and staff of Catskill Regional Medical Center for the warmth, compassion and excellent care given to their mom/grandmother during their difficult time.
