1919 - 2016
Dorothy Pitts, a long-time resident of Marlboro, died Tuesday the 20th of September peacefully at home.
Born and raised in Newburgh, NY to the late Clarence and Emily Yeoman in Newburgh 1919. She was the second oldest of five girls. She was proud of her long and successful career with the NY telephone company in which she retired in 1984.
Dorothy loved spending time with family and enjoyed telling stories about her family's history and ancestry. She enjoyed bird watching, was an avid sports fan and loved all animals.
She is survived by her daughters: Carol Gauvin and Linda Stureski both of Marlboro; and one sister, Evelyn Moore of Iowa. She also leaves behind four grandchildren: Wendy Davis, Michael Stureski, Nicole Stureski and Danielle Gauvin; along with 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, George Pitts, her three sisters, Anne Wild, Muriel Mead and June Quicksell and one great-grandchild, Ava Stureski.
The family is having a graveside service on Friday morning at 11 a.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 5468 Route 9W North, Newburgh, NY.
