The Good Lord called Aurea Mele home on March 9, 2018. She can finally be truly at peace after suffering for the last four years from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).

Aurea Hernandez Y Batiz was born in Puerto Rico to Jose Encarnacion Hernandez Y Sierra and Maria del Carmen Batiz Y Soto on September 26, 1941. Aurea moved to NYC at 15 years old to live with her older brother Jesus. Eventually she married and had eight children with Arthur Mele, and later divorced.

She is survived by her sons: Arthur Jr. (Magda), Peter (Natasha), Paul (Nancy), Michael (Kory), and daughters: Sadie, Maria, Elizabeth (Denny). Aurea leaves behind her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Aurea was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and her beloved daughter, baby Angel.

During her journey here on earth, she touched many lives, and many lives had touched hers. The Mele Family would like to extend deep gratitude to those whom gave Aurea comfort during her time of suffering, prayed with and for her, and brought her peace.

"I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?" John 11:25-26.

A Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. A Memorial service will commence at 12:30 p.m. followed by an Inurnment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Middletown NY.
