Joseph E Henion, Sr, 72, passed suddenly on March 10, 2018 at his home in Bridgewater, NJ with loved ones by his side. Joseph was born June 5, 1945 in Paterson, NJ to the late Fabian Henion and Dorothy Degroat Henion.
Joseph was a long-time resident of Matamoras, PA where he raised his children. He retired from Reynolds Aluminum/Ball, Middletown, NY.
Joseph was an avid car enthusiast. He loved his Candy Apple Red Ford Coupe, playing cards/dice with his longtime friend, Tony Marion.Spending mornings at the diner with Norm, Joyce and friends along with lounging at his pool and an occasional outing on the lake. Joseph would always be found on a Sunday watching NASCAR Racing or Football. Playing cards/games with his children/grandchildren, and a good family barbecue, were the happiest times for Joseph.
He loved life and adored his grandchildren. He was loved more than words can say. He had a heart of gold and will be missed deeply by his family. The love of his life, the late Linda Henion, daughter Patty Henion Manzak and son-in-law, Scott Manzak of Haskell, NJ, daughter, Dottie Witkowski and son-in-law, Brian Witkowski of Cuddebackville, NY, daughter, Tammy Henion Davis and son-in-law, Don Davis of Bridgewater, NJ and son, Joseph Henion Jr. and daughter-in-law, Jodee Henion of St Charles, IL. Joseph's grandchildren, Chrystal Henion, Tasha Witkowski Pennell, Erica Witkowski, Joseph Henion III (JT), Michael Manzak, Jared Henion, Zachary Davis and his late, grandson, Junior Davis. He loved his grandchildren more than life! The memories of their Poppy will forever put a smile on their faces and in their hearts! His surviving family also includes sister, Ruthann Gourvellec and brother, Jimmy Henion. He was also predeceased by his brother, Donald Henion, Sonny Degroat, Harold Henion and sister, Linda Nicholas.
With the recent passing of Josephs beloved wife, Linda, the family finds comfort knowing they are together again. He was truly a one-of-a-kind guy and you only had to meet him once to have him leave a heartfelt forever impression.
Friends may call at Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Inc., 100 E. Main Street, Port Jervis, NY on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 16th at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating. Burial will follow in Midvale Cemetery, 332 Ringwood Avenue, Wanaque, NJ. Due to the weather, please be prepared with proper footwear for snow.
