He truly had a heart for the elderly and spent many year volunteering at the Campbell Hall Rehab Center, and for the Friendly Visitor program, receiving several recognition awards for his dedicated service. He developed close relationships with the people he met volunteering, and often brought them home to share meals for the holidays.
Over the years David attended several local churches, and most recently was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Middletown.
David is survived by his wife, Lynn Dresher Darrigo at home. To celebrate their 35th anniversary last September, they renewed their marriage vows with a lovely ceremony and party at their church.
He is also survived by a daughter, Sherrie Darrigo of Dutchess County, a son, David Darrigo of South Carolina, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Other survivors include sister, Patsy Foley and her husband Chuck of Belmar, NJ, brother, Doug of Barryville, uncle and aunt, Tome and Joan Darrigo of Doylestown, PA, aunt Ruth Vealey of Wallkill, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be tremendously missed by his two loving St. Bernards, Hannah and Gretel.
