John Henry Buhr entered into rest on July 17, 2018 at home surrounded by his family and friends. The son of the Late Albina Hines Epstein and Late Henry John Buhr, he was born in the Bronx, NY on June 27, 1938.

John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jeanette (Bancone) Buhr and daughter, Jennifer Buhr Galligan and her husband, Glenn and grandchildren, Kaitlyn Elizabeth and Ryan John Galligan of Hopewell Junction, NY; his beloved sister, Dana Epstein; and nephew, Max Epstein Lee of Tempe, AZ. He was predeceased by his step-father, Richard Epstein and step-mother, Virginia Buhr.

Our family would especially like to thank Lilly Cross, Theresa Jackson, and Suki Cici, three special caregivers for their wonderful care, dedication, and love that they showed John. We also appreciate the many times that Annie Cichon helped with humor and a special fondness.

John was a 4th Grade School Teacher at East Coldenham Elementary School in the Valley Central School District from 1965 to 2000. He also worked part-time at Verla International Cosmetics for many years. He served in the United States Coast Guard.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh, NY. At 11 a.m. a funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, Rte. 208, Washingtonville, NY followed by burial with military honors at Orange County Veteran Memorial Cemetery, Craigville Road, Goshen, NY.

Memorial donations may be made in John's name to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001, Attention: Dept. 3.
