Jimmy Catalano aka "CAT", passed away peacefully on Friday August 10th. He was the loving son of Vincent and Susan Gibbone Catalano.
Cat lived a very humble life, caring for others, and giving back to the community. Working over 40 years at IBM, he eventually took over the operation of his parent's fruit farm. He enjoyed the peacefulness of farm living, growing fruit, and the joy of giving the fruit to his family, friends and people in need.
Jimmy was an avid sports fan, playing both basketball and baseball for the majority of his life. He coached basketball leagues, and volunteered decades of his time opening the school gym on weekends so the kids could play sports. He was a proud member of the board of education for many years.
Cat was an artist as well. He had his own studio connected to the house. He sculpted, and made molds of characters, then meticulously painted them; even with tooth picks to define the small details. Again, not selling his art, but giving it away to the special people in his life.
Some would say Cat lived a simple life, I would say he live a rich and full life; simple and caring for what really matters.
He was a role model for me, and many other lives he touched. My uncle's motto was always "One step at a time". Let us carry his unique and simple love for life forward, one step at a time.
Jimmy was predeceased by his sister Joyce Grenon.
