Mary Nellenback of Middletown, NY passed away at the age of 91 at Orange Regional Medical Center October 3, 2018. In her passing she was surrounded by loving family and warm memories of the times shared in her life.
Mary, daughter of Bertha Pachutka and Michael Donai was born May 5, 1927 in Ava, NY. She was the youngest of seven children. As a young girl growing up in the throes of The Great Depression, she embodied strength, resiliency and an appreciation for life that later served as the pillar of strength within her family. Following high school, Mary decided to pursue a career in business and moved to Syracuse, NY. Her time in Syracuse afforded her the business skills she was able to use throughout her career. Mary later moved back to Ava where she married the boy next door. She and her husband Walter Nellenback moved to Middletown, NY in 1967 with their children. There, she worked and retired from the Orange County government center in Goshen NY.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Walter; daughter, Jean, and son, Michael. She is survived by daughter, Judy Sheppard and husband, Roy of Middletown, NY; son, John Nellenback and wife, Linda Jean of West Yarmouth, MA; grandchildren: Stephen Kurpick and wife, Amy, David Kurpick, Scot Kurpick and wife, Kristen, Michael Pollets; great-grandchildren: Matthew, Kaitlyn, Benjamin, and Parker.
Visitations will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 6th at Morse Funeral Home in Middletown, NY, followed by a life remembrance at the Sheppard's residence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 8th at St. Mary's Church in West Leyden, NY. Burial is to follow in Prussian Settlement Cemetery, West Leyden.
