Doris "Tootie" Sutton, a lifelong resident of Monroe entered into rest on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at home after a battle with health issues. She was 89 years old. Daughter of the late Raymond and Grace Getchius Bell, she was born July 18, 1929 in Hackettstown, NJ.
Doris worked as a Telephone Operator for the Highland Telephone Company in Monroe, NY. She volunteered for many years with the Monroe Lake Regioneers Drum and Bugle Core, at Arden Hill Hospital in Goshen, and was a member of Mombasha Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary in Monroe, NY. One thing she enjoyed most was working with the Town of Monroe's Beautification Committee. Her greatest honor was proudly being recognized by the Orange County Office of The Aging in 2007 for Outstanding Contribution by a Senior Citizen. All will remember her for her talent in floral arrangements and many crafts.
Survivors include her daughter, Sheree Conklin and her husband, James of Bullville, NY; her two grandchildren: Bradley Conklin and his wife, Christine, Heather Conklin and her fiance, Ryan Stenson; two great grandchildren: Ryan and Hailey, and numerous nieces and nephews. Tootie was predeceased by her parents; husband George; sister, Violet and her husband, Herb Dorn; and her brother, Bill Bell.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17th at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe, NY 10950. A Chapel Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 18th in the Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Bronc Radak. Interment will follow in Seamanville Cemetery, Monroe, NY.
