ShopRite raised more than $1 million to benefit local veterans organizations during its tenth annual Veterans Fundraising Campaign, held at 35 stores throughout New York and New Jersey.
ShopRite stores throughout the Hudson Valley and Capital Region, along with three New Jersey stores, collected donations at checkouts from May 25 to Aug. 4.
The stores also coordinated fundraising events such as 5K runs and walks, food drives, pancake breakfasts and corn-hole tournaments, with all proceeds benefiting local veterans groups.
More than $5 million has been raised since the 2009 launch of the fundraiser.
Store in Vails Gate, Montgomery, and Montague, N.J. raised the largest sums this year.
Proceeds will benefit veterans organizations including The Tower of Hope, Committee for Families of War Veterans, Hudson Valley Honor Flight and Tri County Council for Vietnam Era War Veterans.
