Liberty's own Slam Allen, above, begins a one-month residency every Monday at the new Resorts World Catskill Casino's Doubletop Bar & Grill. "Slam Allen & Friends" will perform, 6-9 p.m. but Allen also invites other performers to come out and introduce themselves. MAPLE SUGARING

The sweet season

Maple sugaring season beging at Hudson Highlands Nature Museum with a Sugaring Off Celebration, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and a whole month of maple sugar tours. Tours are led by environmental educators and take place at the Outdoor Discovery Center. ART SHOW

Look and learn

"Art from the Heart & Kidney," a show of paintings, jewelry and flower arrangements by Jodi Yeaple-King, opens with a reception 1-3 p.m. and runs to April 18 at the Desmond Campus for Adult Enrichment at Mount Saint Mary College, Newburgh. Her work "Blue Door in the Garden" is above. Yeaple-King teaches oil and acrylics, a class for adults, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays. Next class starts April 4. More info at msmc.edu/communityed.

MUSICAL MOMENTS

Chamber Series

Chiara String Quartet performs at the Village of Montgomery Senior Center, 36 Bridge St., 3 p.m. in a free concert as part of the Grand Montgomery Chamber Music Series. The quartet will perform Debussy’s String Quartet in G Minor, Op. 10 and Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8 in C minor, Op. 110 – without printed music, or “by heart.” To see them perform Beethoven by heart visit chiaraquartet.net.
