The Hudson Valley and Catskills are chock-full of fairs and festivals this summer.

This weekend alone, you might enjoy a visit to the midway at the Orange County Fair and tastings from some of Montgomery’s best restaurants. You can savor the local music vibe at the Rosendale Street Festival and check out the scene at the Washingtonville Artisans Extravaganza. There’s also the Young Mavericks Festival in Woodstock and Dusklit International Art Festival in Sugar Loaf.

Pull out your calendars and make plans to attend one or all of these summertime events.

Orange County Fair

Through July 28

Now in its 179th season, the fair continues to attract throngs of folks eager to hop on a gentle carousel or more electrifying rides with names like Alien Invasion, Sea Dragon and Delusion.

Kids are sure to be drawn to the petting zoo, camel and pony rides, pig races, bumper cars and rides like the Elephant Parade.

As always, the fair will feature monster truck shows, dirt and track racing, tractor pulls and motocross racing at the Orange County Fair Speedway. There will be fireworks and traditional fair foods like funnel cakes too.

Live musical entertainment is offered on two stages. Most shows are free with fair admission. Grammy winner Tom Chapin will perform on the Pavilion Stage July 20, as will Grammy winner Jimmy Sturr and his orchestra on July 21. Little Steven and The Disciples of Soul perform July 22.

Some events, such as reserved seating for monster truck shows on July 19 and 20 at the Speedway, require separate tickets. You must also purchase separate tickets for Shooter Jennings and Lukas Nelson on July 24, and for Lou Gramm and Asia with John Payne on July 26.
