MIDDLETOWN - Police seized fentanyl, crack cocaine, marijuana, a loaded gun and cash in a Friday raid on a Lafayette Avenue home, officials said.

Police charged Shaheed Emery, 37, with first-, second- and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies.

Middletown police said the raid at 5 a.m. Friday at 43 Lafayette Ave. turned up 2.8 ounces of fentanyl, 5.47 ounces of crack, 1.94 ounces of powdered cocaine, about four-tenths of an ounce of marijuana, a loaded .22-caliber handgun and about $33,000 in cash.

Middletown police executed the search warrant with the aid of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group and state police following an investigation into the sale and trafficking of crack, fentanyl and heroin. Police said they found Emery, the “primary target” of the investigation, in the building’s basement.

Police said Emery moved to Middletown recently, and has lived at the address since June.

Emery was arraigned and sent to Orange County Jail without bail, awaiting a court date.
