TOWN OF WALLKILL - A woman escaped with minor injuries from a fire that destroyed a mobile home Wednesday afternoon in Fair Oaks, fire officials said.

Emergency medical technicians treated the woman for smoke inhalation at the scene for the fire at 735-4 Dosen Road, said Justin Arnold, assistant fire chief for the Bloomingburg Fire Department. Bloomingburg covers the section of the Town of Wallkill that includes Dosen Road.

Arnold said the fire was called in to 911 at 1:27 p.m. When firefighters arrived shortly after, fire billowed from the mobile home.

Bloomingburg called in assistance from the Howells, Circleville and Wurtsboro fire departments for tankers and manpower. Walker Valley was on standby for Bloomingburg. Wallkill police assisted firefighters.

Mobile Life Support Services provided medical aid, and Orange County fire investigators were helping to determine the fire’s cause.

That investigation was still underway Wednesday afternoon, Arnold said, but the fire didn’t appear suspicious.

The fire left little of the mobile home beyond some metal roofing, the structure’s porch, and charred beams.

Officials called in the local chapter of the Red Cross to assist the home’s occupant.
