GOSHEN - A blood drive will be held on April 27 in memory of Andrea Cushing, a local woman and mother of two Burke Catholic High School graduates and one future Burke student, who suddenly passed away last year at 48.

Sponsored with the New York Blood Center, the drive will be from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. in the Burke Catholic High School gym, 80 Fletcher St., Goshen. All are welcome.

Known among her friends and family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Andrea Cushing was well known as a gifted photographer, tireless organizer of school events and an integral part of the local football program. Her family and friends invite the community to save a life by donating blood in Andrea’s honor or in memory of someone close to them.

Blood donors must be at least 16 years old (with signed parental permission on a New York Blood Center form) and weigh 110 pounds or more. Additional height and weight requirements apply to donors under age 19. People over 75 may donate with a doctor's note. Please bring a New York Blood Center Donor Card for faster service, or other photo or signature ID, and eat and drink before donating. No tattoos in the past 12 months. Medical eligibility questions can be answered by calling 1-800-688-0900 or coming to the blood drive.

Appointments to donate blood can be made by calling toll free at 800-933-2566 or by going online to nybc.org and using Group Code #11133.
