WAWARSING – An Ellenville woman was charged with assault Saturday following a confrontation with Ulster County sheriff’s deputies earlier this month.
The sheriff’s office said deputies first responded to an office in the Town of Wawarsing on April 6 to investigate a report that Ingrid S. Anthony, 51, of Ellenville, became irate and created a disturbance when she was denied medication.
Anthony left before deputies arrived. But a short time later a 911 call from Ellenville Hospital reported that Anthony was creating a disturbance there. Anthony fought with deputies while they tried to interview her. One deputy had to seek medical attention for facial and leg injuries.
Anthony was taken to the Broadway campus of HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley for treatment, and was released before deputies could arrest her. An arrest warrant was obtained, and deputies arrested her at her home on Saturday after another struggle.
Anthony was charged with second-degree assault, a felony; resisting arrest and second-degree menacing, misdemeanors; and disorderly conduct and second-degree harassment, violations. She was arraigned in Town of Wawarsing Court and is free on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 secured bond, pending further court action.
