LLOYD – A Kingston woman was accused of stealing a sport utility vehicle while its owner was in a church on Monday.

Town of Lloyd police said the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee was parked outside St. Augustine’s Church in Highland on Monday when it was stolen by Michelle Cadena, 41, of Kingston.

Police said Cadena and the vehicle were found later at a motel in the Town of Ulster.

Cadena was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, both felonies.

She was arraigned before Lloyd Town Justice Terry Elia and sent to Ulster County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $25,000 insurance bond, pending a Thursday court appearance.

Town of Ulster police assisted Lloyd police.
