NEW PALTZ — The Town New Paltz Office of Parks and Recreation and The Arts Community (a 501(c)(3) non-profit) are joining forces to organize a Free Film Series at The Field of Dreams park pavilion directly across from the Ulster County Fairgrounds at 241 Libertyville Road in New Paltz on the third Saturday of each month this summer.

The first film showing on June 16 is the baseball-themed classic, “The Field of Dreams” (PG) starring Kevin Costner. There will be a pick-up baseball game for kids at 7:30 p.m. and the film begins when it gets dark, around 9 p.m. The second film on July 21 is a “date-night” themed event with a concert of Motown music by Soul City Groove starting at 7 p.m. and the film “Dirty Dancing” (PG-13). The third film on Aug. 18 will have a “drive-in” theme and kids can bring cardboard boxes decorated as cars to watch Disney/Pixar’s film, “Cars” (G). Patrons can bring chairs and blankets to sit on. No alcohol is permitted at the park. The organizers are hoping for the Free Film Series at the Field of Dreams to become a summer tradition under the stars at this beautiful town park.

Tax-deductible corporate sponsorships are available for each night of the series and donations from the community are strongly encouraged to support this free event. Woodstock Harley, Hudson Valley Casting, Woodstock Film Studio and Best Western Plus, Kingston are already sponsors. A stay at the Best Western Plus will be raffled off on each night of the event.
