GOSHEN - A Newburgh man pleaded guilty this week in Orange County Court to his role in a shooting outside a City of Newburgh nightclub.

Antoine Johnson, 23, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to attempted murder in the March 4 shooting outside the 411 Lounge.

Earlier in the case, prosecutors said Johnson acted in concert with Walter L. Herring, 36, of Newburgh, and fired shots into the victim’s car, hitting the man’s arm. Under the plea deal, prosecutors will recommend a sentence of 18 years in prison, and Judge Craig Brown agreed to cap the sentence at 18 years.

Johnson’s sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 4.

Johnson, represented by lawyer Mary Zugibe-Raleigh, still faces charges along with four other people in a separate case, including charges of first-degree robbery, felony assault and unlawful imprisonment. That case is being heard in front of Judge William DeProspo. Antoine is due back in court on July 24 in that case.
