Every year the New Paltz School of Ballet assemble to perform a quintessential holiday classic, The Nutcracker.

Co-artistic director for the New Paltz School of Ballet, Lisa Chalmers-Naumann likens the endurance needed to perform the show to the stamina exerted by football quarterbacks. "Ballet is one of the most athletic sports ever, and people don't realize it because really good dancers make it look easy.

Performing in her 11th Nutcracker, dancer Alana Trees 18 of Saugerties, NY has yet to tire of dancing in the show, "there's always something new and exciting and just the story is so magical that I can't board of it."

You can see the New Paltz School Ballet's performance of the Nutcracker at the Bardavon in Poughkeepsie, NY and at UPAC in Kingston, NY with shows running through the weekend. Visit bardavon.org to learn more.
