Wellness Center hires hypnotherapist

MIDDLETOWN — A new medical hypnotherapist has joined the team of health professionals at the Pain Relief and Wellness Center, 201 Dolson Ave., Middletown.

Medical hypnotherapist Ajamu Ayinde received the Therapist of the Year award from the International Association of Counselors and Therapists in 2004 and most recently captured the Most Unique Contribution Award from the National Association of Transpersonal Hypnotherapists at their 22nd Annual Conference in November  2017.

The 2017 award was given to him in recognition of his revolutionary approach to helping facilitate pain-free births. Ayinde’s “Hypnosis House Calls” have inspired his hypnotherapy students and colleagues across the country. In addition to working with expectant mothers and fathers to have pain-free, anxiety-free births, Ayinde also specializes in pediatric hypnosis and oncology hypnosis.

Midwife joins Health Quest OB/GYN practice

KINGSTON — Whitney Hall, a certified midwife, recently joined Health Quest Medical Practice’s OB/GYN practice with privileges at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck.

Hall sees patients in the OB/GYN offices on the hospital’s Springbrook Avenue campus and in the Kingston Plaza. She offers gynecological exams, contraceptive counseling, pre-conception education, maternity care and menopausal management. A certified lactation counselor and childbirth educator, she is part of the delivery care team at the Neugarten Family Birth Center.

Most recently, she was with the Kingston-based private practice Hudson Valley Midwifery. She began her midwifery education in 1990 as an apprentice doing home births in Santa Barbara, Calif. In 2003, she graduated from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn with a master’s degree in midwifery.
