KINGSTON — A man was charged with felony assault after police said he beat a fellow inmate at the Ulster County Jail on Monday.

Christian Bang, 27, was charged with second-degree assault, a felony.

Corrections officers responded to a fight between inmates at a housing unit in the jail about 4:50 p.m. Monday, according to a news release posted by the Ulster County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday.

An investigation by detectives with the sheriff's office determined Bang punched another inmate multiple times.

The beaten inmate was transported to Health Alliance Hospital's Broadway Campus for treatment of injuries that included lacerations, abrasions, pain and swelling.
