MONTICELLO - Police charged a Monticello woman with stabbing another woman in the leg with scissors during a domestic dispute early Saturday morning.

Joyce R. Housman, 27, faces felony charges of second-degree assault, first-degree criminal contempt and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to a news release from Monticello police Lt. Mark Johnstone.

Monticello officers responded to a reported disturbance at a residence on Park Avenue at 3 a.m.

At the scene, officers interviewed a 26-year-old woman who was bleeding from a cut to her leg, the news release says.

The woman told officers that Housman, whom she had an active order of protection against, had stabbed her, police said.

While officers were talking to her, Housman returned to the scene and was arrested, according to the release.

The victim was taken to Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris for treatment.

Housman was arraigned in Village of Monticello Justice Court and sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail, police said.
