GOSHEN - A Warwick man pleaded guilty on Thursday to repeatedly sexually assaulting a child younger than 13.

According to the Orange County District Attorney's Office, Douglas Castro, 64, pleaded guilty to first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, a felony. Castro admitted that he subjected the child to repeated acts of sexual conduct between September 2012 and June 2014, prosecutors said.

In exchange for the guilty plea in front of Judge Robert Freehill, Castro will get 12 years in prison plus 20 years of post-release supervision when he's sentenced on Aug. 27. He'll be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.

"Children are the most innocent of victims," said District Attorney David Hoovler. "We can only hope that there are no long-lasting physical effects which will be suffered by the victim in this case."
