NEWBURGH — The Newburgh Free Library at 124 Grand Street in Newburgh, will be having a very Jazzy June, the library will be hosting two weekend concerts with local jazz artists. On June 22 at 3 p.m., the public is invited to enjoy an afternoon of live classic jazz standards with the Beacon Jazz Lab. This local jazz troupe includes musicians Rich Dambra, Rich Gugumuck, Carl Traina, Joe Randone, and Hank Greenblatt.

The following weekend on June 30 at 3 p.m., the library will be hosting singer, songwriter, and artist Judi Silvano and band for Judi Silvano’s Music and Dance Celebration. This lively and interactive performance will incorporate music and dance, and audience members are invited to bring in their own instruments to participate in an improvised jam session with the band.

Judi Silvano has released 14 music recordings on Blue Note, Soul Note/ Black Saint, Zoho, Jazzed Media and JSL Record labels to critical acclaim and has written over 45 pieces for chamber music and jazz ensembles incorporating written material with improvisation. She has won a Meet the Composer grant, champions the work of under-performed American Women Composers (her “Women’s Work” CD) and her chamber music songs have been played in NYC and Europe for New York Women Composers, Vox Musica and Ars Nova concerts.

Both the Beacon Jazz Lab and Judi Silvano’s Music and Dance Celebration are free to attend and open to the public. The Newburgh Free Library hours are 9 a.m. - 9 p.m., Mon.-Thurs.; 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Fri. and Sat.; and 1– 5 p.m. on Sun.
