CITY OF NEWBURGH – County officials are reminding people who use the Newburgh Transfer Station No. 2, located at 9 Orr Ave., that it will be closed in early November to prepare for the construction of a new facility.

Orange County government issued a press release Thursday noting the closure could take place on or near Nov. 7.

The project will take about a year to complete and will involve closing the solid waste receiving portion of the transfer station.

Customers at the Newburgh station could use Orange County Transfer Station No. 1, located at 21 Training Center Lane in New Hampton, as an alternative, according to the release.

The Citizens Drop-off Area will remain open during the project for residents bringing single-stream recycling, paper, tires, electronics, scrap metal and municipal solid waste.

Personnel at the site will be able to answer questions and provide direction for any changes in traffic patterns, according to the release.
