CITY OF NEWBURGH — The United Way of Dutchess-Orange Region will host a free, first-time home-buyer workshop for people who primarily speak Spanish.

The event will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Activity Center, 401 Washington St., in Newburgh.

Presenters hope the event will address a gap in Spanish-language home-buying programming.

Workshop topics will include steps for prequalification, credit scores overview, documentation and choosing a lender. People who attend will be eligible for a $750 credit toward a qualifying home purchase application, according to a notice about the event from the City of Newburgh.

Those who want to attend the workshop are encouraged to register before the event by calling Michelle Raskoskie at 338-6322, ext. 3471; Shannon Myers at 471-1900, ext. 3122; or by visiting es.ulstersavings.com/why-us/seminars
