WAWARSING — Ulster County sheriff's deputies arrested two Ellenville men after a traffic stop earlier this week, charging one with felony possession of a gun, police said.

Deputies stopped a vehicle in the parking lot of a retail store about 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday in the Town of Wawarsing.

Magnificent M. Brown, 21, fled the car, but was later apprehended by police after a brief foot pursuit, according to a news release posted to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Facebook page.

Brown was in the car with 19-year-old Superior K. Brown and officers discovered a loaded .22-caliber handgun in the vehicle, the news release said.

Superior Brown was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, and Magnificent Brown was taken into custody on a parole warrant, police said.

Authorities later executed two search warrants on residences in Wawarsing and the Village of Ellenville, where they collected additional evidence, according to the Ulster County Sheriff.

Superior Brown was arraigned in Town of Rosendale Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 secured bond and Magnificent Brown was held in jail pending parole violation proceedings, police said.

Police said they are continuing to investigate and additional charges may be filed.
