NEWTON - A Brooklyn driver pulled over for speeding was found in possession of marijuana, a grinder and rolling papers, police said.

Joseph Cingari Jr., 18, was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, both disorderly persons offenses. Cingari was also issues summonses for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and speeding.

Around 8:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, a Newton police officer conducted a motor vehicle stop for a vehicle traveling north on Water Street at a high rate of speed.

An investigation found the driver, identified as Cingari, had a plastic bag in his possession containing under 50 grams of marijuana, a grinder commonly used to grind up marijuana and Raw-brand rolling papers, according to police.

Cingari was charged, processed and released pending a court appearance.
