BLOOMING GROVE - Washingtonville middle and high school students were uninjured Friday morning after a car rear-ended their school bus in Blooming Grove, a school official said.

At approximately 7:10 a.m., the full-size bus was transporting about 40 students on Mountain Lodge Road, approaching Felter Hill Road, when it was hit from behind by a passenger car, according to Paul Nienstadt, assistant superintendent of operations and safety for the Washingtonville school district.

Students were evaluated at the scene by emergency medical service personnel. Since the bus only sustained scratches, the students continued to their respective schools and arrived about 20 minutes later than usual, Nienstadt. They were further evaluated by nurses at the schools, he added.

No information was available on the driver of the car.
